These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of weknowsomebody.online (the “Site”), operated by WeKnowSomebody, a DBA of TEG Digital LLC, a Kentucky limited liability company. By using the Site, submitting a request, applying as a contractor, or listing a business, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.
What WeKnowSomebody Does
WeKnowSomebody is a referral and directory service. We connect homeowners in South Central Kentucky with independent contractors and local businesses. We do this in two ways:
- Contractor matching. For trades such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and roofing, you submit a request describing your job. We contact contractors in our network on your behalf and share your request with them. A contractor will then contact you directly to discuss and quote the work.
- Business directory. For other local services \u2014 food trucks, photography, classes, and similar \u2014 we list businesses that submit information to us. Homeowners browse the directory and contact listed businesses directly.
WeKnowSomebody does not perform any of the services listed or matched through the Site. We are not a contractor, and we do not employ, supervise, or direct the work of any contractor or business in our network.
We Do Not Vet, License-Check, or Warrant Contractors
This is the most important section of these Terms, so we are stating it plainly.
We ask contractors about licensing, insurance, and experience when they apply, and directory businesses about what they offer. We do not independently verify licenses, insurance coverage, background, certifications, or the accuracy of anything a contractor or business tells us. A contractor’s presence in our network, or a business’s presence in our directory, is not an endorsement, certification, or guarantee of quality, safety, legality, or fitness for any purpose.
You are responsible for verifying license, insurance, and qualifications directly with any contractor or business before hiring them or paying them anything. In Kentucky, you can verify contractor licensing through the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction. Ask to see proof of insurance directly.
Contractors and Businesses Are Independent
Every contractor and business connected through the Site operates independently. They are not our employees, agents, partners, or joint venturers, and nothing in these Terms creates such a relationship. Contractors and directory businesses are solely responsible for their own licensing, insurance, tax obligations, pricing, contracts, workmanship, and conduct.
Payment Happens Between You and the Contractor
WeKnowSomebody does not collect payment for home repair or service work, does not set contractor pricing, and is not a party to any agreement you reach with a contractor or business. Any quote, contract, deposit, or payment is strictly between you and that contractor or business. We are not responsible for disputes over pricing, workmanship, scheduling, damage, or any other issue arising from work performed by a contractor or business, and we are not liable for any loss connected to that work.
If You Are a Contractor or Business Using the Site
If you apply to receive leads or submit a directory listing, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you hold any license and insurance required by Kentucky law to perform the work you offer. We may charge a fee for leads we send to contractors, as agreed between us at the time. We may decline, suspend, or remove any contractor or listing at our discretion, including for inaccurate information, unlicensed work in a trade that requires a license, unresolved complaints, or violation of these Terms.
No Guarantee of Leads, Response, or Results
We do our best to respond to homeowner requests promptly and to match contractors and businesses in a way that is useful to everyone involved, but we do not guarantee that any request will result in a contractor contacting you, that any contractor will accept a lead, that any lead will result in work performed, or that any directory listing will generate contact or business.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Kentucky law, WeKnowSomebody and TEG Digital LLC are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site, your interaction with any contractor or business connected through the Site, or any work, product, or service provided by a contractor or business. This includes, without limitation, property damage, personal injury, financial loss, or loss of use, however caused. The Site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where such limitation is not permitted by law.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to submit false or fraudulent requests or listings, misrepresent your identity or qualifications, use the Site to harass or spam contractors, businesses, or other users, scrape or harvest data from the Site, or use the Site for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these Terms.
Reviews, Complaints, and Disputes with a Contractor
If you have a dispute with a contractor or business regarding work, pricing, or conduct, that dispute is between you and them. We are happy to hear about it so we can make informed decisions about who remains in our network, but we are not able to mediate, arbitrate, or resolve contract disputes between homeowners and contractors, and involving us does not pause or extend any deadline you may have under Kentucky law or your agreement with the contractor.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Site changes. When we do, we will revise the “last updated” date at the top. Continued use of the Site after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Site will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kentucky.
